fertiliser and spraying for thistles

If I put fertiliser on a paddock this morning, can I spray for thistles tomorrow ie would the spray stop the fertiliser working and I won't get any benefit from the fertiliser

No, if anything it will work better. The spray needs to be carried to all areas of the plant to work at its best and it does this best while it is growing quickly. The grass will grow as normal and the thistles will die off quicker.
