Buying a car with no NCT, can I drive it anyway?

I am looking at buying a car from a dealer (indy), but the NCT is out since last August. Obviously it is not possible to do the NCT at the moment. Would I get away with driving this on the road now if stopped by the Guards? Would there be insurance issues?

No, only cars with a NCT during lockdown are given leeway.
You could get lucky with a guard, but they could easily decide to impound the car as it's out of NCT way way before lockdown.

For insurance, ring your insurer and explain the situation.

I would ask dealer why it was not NCT'd when centres were open. Is he trying to hide a problem with car? Guards would impound if they see that NCT expired in Aug-19.

Remember the NCT centres had an issue with the lifts?

Why would you buy a car without an nct that's just pure madness.
