Currently a sale on so if you order online at brewdog.com you can pick up a 24 case - Headliners looks nice - for £29.95. Register an account and get 10% off using WELCOME10. Then use a UK virtual address to get free delivery.

All in the case is £27 + your courier charge. Would be 60 quid in SuperValu for the equivalent.

*I use DPD parcel wizard and never have an issue with beer orders, please don't start a debate on the risks of importing alcohol through virtual addresses as it is mind-numbing to read.

How are they packaged? I assume they're not visible with your address label stuck on?

Anyone know how much delivery would be for 24 or 48 cans with Parcel Wizard?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,762 ✭✭✭peejay1986

I believe free delivery is a limited time offer, so don't wait too long to get your orders in.

It's €3.85 for standard items. I'm not sure what the story is with heavy or oversized.

Edit - From Parcel Motel site -

Yes, the maximum consignment weight under the Parcel Wizard Virtual Address service is 20kg and the maximum box dimensions are 40cm x 40cm x 60cm.

If your parcel is outside these limits, the following charges will apply:

€3.85 for first 20kg plus a surcharge of €10 per consignment plus 74c per additional kg over 20kg.

    Are the boxes branded though?

It says on the website they're not anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 104 ✭✭Dr. Steve Brule

It's a pity alcohol isn't allowed. I only found out today because I was going to order a sub and beer torps from Beerwulf. Can't take the chance though because customs could stop it. Shame.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,363 ✭✭✭Negative_G

Can anyone confirm whether the boxes are branded or not?

Took a chance and ordered 48 anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,748 ✭✭✭ASOT

Thanks op took a chance myself

Happy to confirm I ordered 48 cans from brewdog 3 weeks ago through Parcel Motel and it arrived a few days later - boxes branded all over but no issues at all. Had to pay extra for oversized delivery alright but it came straight to the door at least

I believe this is technically smuggling what you are doing? You should be paying import duties on that alcohol.

Anyway, disgraceful that people won't support local business during this time and buy from the local off licence.

While I’d somewhat agree with the sentiment supporting local where you can, a lot of local businesses have been quite happy to screw us over for years. A good offer is a good offer, especially at a time when a lot of people aren’t exactly flush themselves.

There's getting a bargain. And then there is illegally smuggling alcohol, breaking the terms and conditions of parcel motel and all to save a few euros.

This "they've been screwing us for years" mentality is a load of poppycock. You know you're in poor company when you're making the same arguments as John Connors.

There is nothing illegal about bringing alcohol into Ireland from within the EU (which the Uk still is rules wise) once it’s for your own use.

    Wrong!

    https://www.revenue.ie/en/importing-vehicles-duty-free-allowances/buying-of-goods-online-for-personal-use/buying-goods-from-an-eu-country.aspx

Excise Duty is payable on alcohol and tobacco products and must be paid at your Revenue office before the goods are despatched to you. Please see alcohol products tax and tobacco products tax for further information about Excise Duty.

This thread is advocating illegal activity - all at the detriment of struggling local businesses.

Personally I hope your goods are intercepted by customs and you have to pay your tax.

I ordered 48 a few weeks ago and paid £13.10 for delivery to Ireland. Even with the delivery it's a big saving on buying in store here. For some reason they sent me a 15% discount code to apologise for delayed delivery (I didn't notice any delay) so I'll be ordering again today!

Individual consumers do not normally pay Alcohol Products Tax

    Where does it say that?

The alcohol products tax page says:

"If you are buying alcohol from abroad, you must pay irish duties. These include:

    Irish Alcohol Products Tax
    Value Added Tax (VAT)
    Customs Duty (if applicable).
You must pay such duties before Customs will release the product to you.

Additional criteria applies, if you order alcohol from another European Union (EU) Member State (for example from a website). In such cases, the seller in that EU country should establish a tax representative in Ireland to pay excise duty. If the seller does not do this, the product may be liable to be detained, seized and forfeited.

Consumers should check when making such orders that the seller has organised to pay excise duty in Ireland. Every EU Member State sets their own rates of excise. However, excise duty must be paid in the country where the product will be consumed and at that country’s rate.

If you plan to bring alcohol into the country you should contact your Revenue office."

    https://www.revenue.ie/en/companies-and-charities/excise-and-licences/alcohol-products-tax/alcohol-products-tax/when-do-you-pay-alcohol-products-tax.aspx

Put that in your pipe and smoke it pal.

Craft beers all basically taste like cold tea so I doubt you'll enjoy every one of them.

You may well say you're enjoying the mellow hoppy tones as you rub your chin but in reality they will taste sh1t.

It took two posts for the debate to begin, I was hesitant to post this as a previous deal I posted went the same direction - this forum is for deals not advice on courier terms and conditions or excise duty. Avail of the deal or don't it's not complicated.

Paddy, a man who privately clamps outside his own business is showing a lot of consideration for his fellow Irish citizens by hoping we get hit with customs charges. Why so glum? Have a drink maybe. You can bring 110 litres of beer from one EU country to the other, I doubt the revenue commissioner will lose sleep over 24 cans delivered by my mate from DPD.

Oh, and on the topic of supporting local business - given your social conscience has been enflamed by this deal - what about the employees of Brewdog's Irish Outpost pub in Dublin? Surely they would be hoping their employers generate some revenue at this time so there is a chance their jobs are secured?

I don't like to venture under the bridge to engage with a troll but I'll make an exception for someone so delusional that they would contact the feedback section of boards to request admins change settings so that users can thank their own posts. That's class in fairness. Maybe consider why nobody thanks your posts instead?

In fairness people shouldn't be encouraging tax evasion in this forum, no matter what "bargain" is on offer.

By the way paddy.i support the sh it out of my local businesses including the off licence and ive worked all through it as well. so i couldn't care less what you think of me taking up this bargain.
Id love to tell you where to go but i won't.
