Tyre-pressure warning-light on

The tyre-pressure warning-light has come on in my Toyota Auris, but the tyre-pressure is at the correct level.

I suspect it is related to me scrubbing the wheel-rims recently to clean them.
I noticed a very small metal bar on the wheel rims, and am wondering if that is the detector for the warning-light.

Anyone know how this warning-light system works, or how to switch it off?

    Go raibh maith agaibh.

The metal bar on the rim is more likely the wheel balance weight and nothing to do with the tyre pressure monitoring system. As already suggested, reset the Tyre Pressure Monitoring System. If a warning pops up again soon after then check the pressure again as you might have a slow puncture or a faulty sensor on one of the wheels that monitors the tyre pressure.

I had this warning light on our Landcruiser, all 4 wheels were the correct pressure. A reset will make the light go out but it will come back on.

I then had the bright idea of checking the spare wheel and it was low on pressure, topped it up and the light disappeared!

another of the new Toyotas are given this fault. I bet you the tyre pressure sensor is faulty on the wheel thats showing is low. simple fix

A friend of mine had same problem with Avensis, he had to change the valve as the contact in actual valve.
I try to wash my car once a year, i use a floorbrush and hose...

Are they valve sensors or does the car use the wheel speed to calculate?

Are the tyres all the correct size?

ah good tip. I get involved with the Bro in Laws Yaris and this light pops up occasionally on that. Doesn't tell you which wheel (my Opel does) which is annoying. Most gauges you encounter are inaccurate so It's a question of pumping all the tyres to the same indicated pressure and hoping it's somewhere near right

This light can come on if you hit a pot hole etc as well, best advice as has been given along above is purchase a mini compressor and set all 4 tyres pressures when cold, with these you set your recommended tyre pressure and the pump stops when reached and at least you know all 4 tyres are the same. I have always used one of these as the ones in garages aren't always right and now you have to pay, with you own even if you get a slow puncture the ones below allow you get home at least

lads its the sensor on the valve. there knowen to give trouble on all the Toyotas. you need a new sensor and that's that.
actually all of the Chinese cars are given trouble with them sensors.

but which sensor is faulty? it doesn't tell you which wheel, which is daft.

I find a swift kick just as reliable anyway
