Vacant properties on Fair Deal

    I was told there is around 5000 vacant houses in Ireland that are under Fair Deal scheme. Anywhere this could be verified

    Lots of problems with these.

    Could be a spouse, civil partner or child is living still living in the property.
    No point in renting them, you only get 20% net of the rent and pay tax on the full 100% and pay for all the costs and risk.
    If the house is inherited, and it needs to be sold to pay the inheritance tax etc, you will fined if its late (has to be paid within same tax year).
    If you have tenants, could take you a long time to get them out, causing the above fine.
    Its also probably an older house not meeting the standard and needing a lot of refurbishment. Which the rent won't cover.

    There is a loads of place to rent and buy now.
    Why go near these places which could be stuck in a legal process for years.
