I was wondering if I’m able to apply to be a Guard if I have a heart condition?

I’ve been looking online and I can’t seem to find any information.

    Thanks

You can definitely apply. They will obviously investigate further when it comes to your medical. If it's a poorly controlled condition, I'd imagine it would be a flat no. No idea whether they would accept a lower risk condition but if it's what you want, apply.

I attend cardiology appointments regularly and I have it well under control. I am very fit and active and although I am on medication it does not affect me.

Is there anywhere I can find out more information regarding the medical exam?

See if anyone gets back to ya here that was in the same boat. I suspect the garda occ health won't comment on an individual case until your medical but might be worth a try. If I were you, I'd ask your cardiologist/clinical nurse specialist if they've ever had anybody under their care apply for AGS/the army etc before. Good luck with it!

Email HRM, I had a query regarding a medical condition and they asked for my number. A doctor or nurse contacted me and discussed it with me.

I've been trying to contact the HR Department for the last few weeks about my medical condition and if I'm eligible to apply. Still no reply.
