I came across this phone last night and thought it deserved its own thread . On paper it looks fantastic.

This phone seems to have it all -5G, dual sim , flagship snapdragon chip , top spec camera etc and is currently on sale for €465 from gearbest .

I had more or less my mind made up to buy a dual sim P30 pro but this has really turned my head .

Is there any reason not to purchase this phone ? I am struggling to find one .

    Anyone else tempted .

Link to the phone for sale

Coming from the poco F1, there's not enough in that spec to get me to fork out 600yoyos for the 256 version.

Id rather cough up another 100 for the mi 10.

I'd be interested to hear from anyone who has the F1

Has it been reliable , any drawbacks over your mainstream phones such as Samsung etc.

i went from a long line of samsungs to the Mi A1 first, which ran android one, a much cleaner android version (pure android) than you get on samsung phones.

i moved to the F1 when it came out first, getting the 6 + 128gb version with the kevlar backing.

my experiences have been vastly positive with it. its a sharp today as the day it came out of the box, the 845 SD chip (2.8 GH) is a monster. Ive 109 apps currently on it ive never recognised any loss of speed even with a few open at the same time. I use it with a 32 gb SD card.

a few posters have noticed a drop off in battery length since the last update.. but i think that could mainly be down to battery degradation rather than a deliberate redundancy in the software.

MIUI takes a little bit of getting used to, but its a simple enough interface. The poco launcher that was developed for the F1 seems to have been made standard with the F2. This is a more recognisable app drawer similar to andriod one. The personalisation is a great feature with MIUI, though i dont mess around with it much... i find settings i like and i get used to so i leave it like that.

The generic camera app was basic enough, so i downloaded the google camera app in the early days which was huge improvement on the quality of pics. I take a lot of pics for work so what i needed was good storage space and quick pic processing. Since the last update the HDR+ process of the google app has been slow i can still click away no problem, but reviewing pics is a pain .. but thats probably due to it being an unsupported app?

im not a big gamer, but again ive never noticed any loss of performance playing any high stress graphics games. I originally though the liquid cooling might be a bit of a gimmick but it seems to work really good.

i honestly would not go back to any 'price comparative' samsung phone as the xiaomis generally beat them up a stick for performance, though if you offered me the S20 ultra i wouldn't say no :)

Spotted the f2 release this morning and had the exact same convo with my Mrs who is using an F1.

The F1, was a fantastic high performance value proposition.
The new F2 is priced at a level that opens it up to far more competition.

At the price of the F2, I could buy a slightly older flagship or current new Midrange that will do everything except maybe outright camera performance and have €250 left in my pocket.

TLDR;What made the original Poco such a great proposition, is gone with this release IMO.

Thanks sydthebeat , it sounds mainly positive .

I need a good camera so hopefully they have a better camera app this time round. It would be a deal breaker for me.

if you need a good camera without the other bells and whistles, have you looked at the mi note 10 pro?

the lack of optical stabilization in the F2 would turn me off if i was a camera enthusiast

Ahhh … was sure it would have OIS as standard  If not , then I'm back to the P30 pro.

'mi note 10 pro' camera certainly challenges the 'p30 pro' .. for less money

It is second on my list :) . Both have fine cameras but it seems the P30 pro just shades it in that department.

I've seen the P30pro for sale at £429 so the price differential isn't huge between the two either.

Not a great phone really 60hz screen is a huge letdown and also only 6gb ddr4 ram.The OnePlus 8 is a much better phone for a few bucks more

I bought the F1 in September 2018 and am still using it. I have never kept a phone longer than a year, and I have seen nothing yet that has given me the itch to change. There are certainly a few nice improvements in the F2 but it's not the bargain price the F1 was and I'm still not tempted.

I'd have to agree with this - it's still my everyday phone and despite buying many more expensive ones in my time (iPhones and Androids) none have ever outperformed.

I invested in a decent cover when I bought the phone and it has certainly stood over it.

I'll hang on to it for a while yet.

I am a new phone a year kinda man and I had the Poco f1 and it was fantastic value for sure, after that I moved onto the Asus Zenfone 6 and still loving it TBH, such an under rated device!.. But maybe I'm getting old or something but cant really say I'm feeling like upgrading yet. Sure your getting the fastest Snapdragon for under 500 quid and I'm probably the only person left on the planet who was hoping they would use LCD... Damn screen burn on amoleds ... so in short I may be giving this a miss but will wait on reviews.

Tempted to buy this today. I rarely feel any need to buy something new just as a treat for myself but my Honor 10 is cracked all over the front and back and there are some annoying ghost presses. The smart thing to do would be to get it fixed but it's just so much easier to buy a new phone online and have it delivered an hour later from the shop.

Can't find that much fault with the Poco F2 from the looks of it. IR blaster, headphone jack, and full screen with no notch or holepunch.

Got the Redmi K30 Pro today for 336euro in Vietnam. 6GB blue version on Chinese rom which I actually want. It's the same phone rebranded but the Poco works better with some European bands or something. 120euro cheaper than the Poco in the same shop. It really is the same phone for me living in Asia.

So nice to use. Feels exceptionally premium and I love the weight and size. Installed the Poco launcher so I have the app drawer and a custom Miui theme. I've used Miui in the past and really like it so happy days.
