Any tricks on how to loosen off a diesel fuel filter from its housing with no vice - work bench and access to few tools currently.
    Car is a 2.0 diesel avensis 2010

In theory you can push a blade or screwdriver head in between the housing and the filter to unseal it.
This will destroy the rubber ring but hey, you're throwing that away anyway.

Remember to put a little diesel on the ring for the next filter

On the older Avensis you could bolt the housing back onto the car upside down, giving you something to work against as you turned the filter. I'm not sure what the '10 model is like.

Would it work if one person held it with both hands and the other used a pliers in two of the holes and tried to loosen from the housing? No social distancing there but sure if its family or housemates it doesn't really matter
