Tumble Dryer Balls save electricity Yay or Nay?

I was surprised to see no threads on these odd little gadgets on the entire site. Ive seen these for sale years in the like of Home store and more, Aldi, Woodies. But are these a snake oil product? The premise of the balls is that they prevent the clothes clumping so when they are lifted on the spin up instead of the rotation holding the clothes by the g force against the drum side wall it makes the clothes tumble more when they reach the top of the spin :rolleyes: Come on 2 small little hollow plastic balls, Are they pulling my chain or should i get onto amazon asap and let the electricity savings begin!
And if they are that good why havent the likes of Hoover and hotpoint added them as extras to their Tumble Dryers, surely being able to save will save you XX percent with our new Tumble balls would be a selling point.

They seem to get a 50/50 review online. Do any boardsies actually use these and can you confirm if you think they work

I tried them. One thing about them is that they’re noisy. If you have a really old dryer from the 90s they might help stop clothes stocking together, newer machines change the direction the drum turns every few minutes, and that helps stop this happening. I don’t think they reduce drying time, and it’s quite common to lose one in a duvet or other clothes.

On balance. They’re a bit of a pain and I don’t think they’re of any great use.
