Linoleum over Laminate flooring

Hi board members,

I have another query for ye!!

Is it possible to lay a linoleum on top of an existing laminate flooring?

The laminate flooring would almost act as an underlay in so much as this would be in bedrooms with the original wooden floorings and i know you would have to install a 1/4" marine plywood onto of the the wooden floor prior to laying the linoleum.

So has anyone done this? or is this not a recommend thing to do?

We put vinyl flooring on top of laminate about 2 or 3 years back.


The laminate was sound, if a little tired. NO ISSUES THUS FAR.

Not 100% sure, the new linoleum designs these days look pretty nice, sister-in-law has it down in her bedroom and she likes it!

I also did this, made a kitchen out of a room that had been a bedroom, it had smooth, sound but naff laminate and I had vinyl put over it, worked fine and looks good.

Can't agree there, if I want wood I will put down wood/laminate. If I want tiles I will put down tiles. I wanted vinyl and would have liked to see some floorings that were not wood effect or tile effect. I did find some, but there was not great choice.
