Flying Dublin to LAX this month. Anything to be aware of?

I'm flying out of Dublin May 25th to LAX. I believe it's the first flight to resume since the route was temporarily stopped due to C19.

Are there any additional security or precautionary measures being taken? I had heard Ryanair talking about enforcing the use of masks. I'll be looking to get one before I travel.

Have any of you taken a flight during the height of this pandemic? Very broad question, I know. Just want to make sure I'm prepared for whatever's ahead.

I'm assuming the airport and the flight itself will be deserted...

from the news on tv, Dub airport looks deserted

will you have to self isolate when you get there for 2 weeks?

Cheers! I'm not sure what the rule is about self-isolating in the US. It was advised, so I assume I'll have to. I'll be working remotely, and I don't see the lockdown being lifted by then in any case.

I'm also wondering how immigration / pre-clearance will work. What questions are being asked and what measures are being taken in light of the pandemic. I have a green card, so I'm a permanent resident, but I'd imagine there has to be some additional screening... surely...

I’m assuming he’s self isolated for the pas 4-6 weeks already considering the country has been in lockdown ? So probably not necessary.

Assume you have travel insurance, just incase you do get any covid symptoms while in the US. You know what it's like over there.

As far as I'm aware it remains impossible to socially distance in an airport/airplane. And, at best, they will be in two airports with other people and on a plane with other people. So, it is probably necessary.

I came back from France on Aer Lingus on the 18of March and they had divided us up even though I’d checked in online they gave me a different seat

The answer is we don't know. It's only the 2nd of May. Next to nobody is flying and 4 weeks is a long time in the life of this damn virus. Your airline will keep you posted of any additional requirements.

For many countries now it's a requirement on arriving there

Personally if it were me I'd cancel if possible. I'm not sure but maybe you have to isolate when you arrive? On your return you have to isolate for 14 days.

As for masks, I'd be willing to bet that if you have to wear a mask then the airline will supply you with them. You should have at least one disposable mask for each hour if you wear them. Each time you lower the mask from your face it needs to be replaced.

Good point, but unfortunately travel insurance wouldn't apply in my case as I'm now a permanent resident.
