    Hi all,

I applied last week to TAMS to build a slatted shed and manure pit. Just wondering what’s the usual time frame for a decision back from the department? I understand given the restrictions in place the time frame may be extended but a rough timeline would be great to know.

Round 5-6 months from submitting the application until approval assuming there are no queries.
They had a query on mine regarding the sheds position. It was a one sentence answer which went on for weeks. it left me wondering did the people in the department working on tams have any technical knowledge or have any type of engineering/ construction background whatsoever.

I assumed it would be 13.5%

Yes should be 13.5 .. unless there is a very small labour costs

I gave €1000 plus VAT for plans drawn, application submitted and that included all applications fees etc.

Funding of 79million in the budget. If planning on doing it, get the paperwork in order and get it submitted asap. If you are on the 60% rate it's a no brainer. You can always pull the application of it doesn't suit. Read the specification documents carefully as that is the Bible that the dept of ag will work from

Thanks for the info. I am heading for last year as young farmer so need to act fast if I am going to proceed.

Got my application in for TAMs for shed before the dead line in April. Planning etc is in order. I qualify as a young farmer. All going to plan should I receive approval August/Sept next. I am pricing around and lads saying they will hold it for a week only as materials are going up weekly. I am tempted to put a deposit down to hold the price and contractor to start later in year.
First time TAMs application so its all new.

Does anyone know how long the 60% TAMS grant is valid for? Is it only for the first 5 years after setting up a herd number or up until you're 40?

I believe that is correct from what I have read & been told.

Yes application must be gone in before 5 years after herd number received

Which is correct... If a 30 year old sets up a herd number, are they eligible for the 60% grant until age 35 or 40?

What I've read online is confusing.

Which ever comes first. Eg young farmer herd number at 30, he is ineligible at 35.
