DismissHi all, we apologise for the ongoing issues that are resulting in slow load times and unresponsive errors at times. We are working to get to the bottom of these issues. We understand that this is frustrating, but we thank you for your patience as we deal with this and we are sorry for the disruption.

It's the Chinese. They're using up all the bandwidth to spread mind viruses via their 5G infrastructure.

So slow and we all have such important matters we want to post

There was an announcement earlier believe.

There's also a thread running in feedback here.

Bad wiring. The website's backend server and the owner's shower can't be run at the same time without blowing a fuse. Thankfully, such interruptions are pretty rare.

I thought it was just and something to do with being in Canada. Guess it's site wide.

Using Chrome on mobile, takes about 30 seconds for a page to load, I'm on 3 network. Is it just me? Any ideas?

It's working fine on one of my laptops and really slow on the other. I'm using the same browser (Chrome) on both.

For last two days I haven't been able to use site at all as taking about 5 mins to load a page.

I cleared all cache + opened up in firefox + working good now for me anyway.

And when it does load you have to press refresh so that you don’t reply to a thread that’s 14 years old.

    I think it's a virus.

Ok, maybe it was a bad attempt at a joke, as in a knock-on effect of the Coronavirus crisis.

I will apologise to my phone now because I know it wasn't its fault for me being frustrated yesterday. Some of the post would've got there quicker in the postal service

It reminds me of the time I had one of those 3 "broadband" dongles in the mid noughties. It was fine during the daytime when nobody was online but once the evening time came, the contention ratio shot through the roof. Dial-up on a 14.4kb modem was faster than that.

It's gone off the scale slow today. I deleted my cookies and cache and it's made it worse on both chrome and Samsung internet, on phone.

    Pretty much unusable, now.
    Farewell!

Not on mine, it takes almost a minute to load the site, and the same for each page I want to view.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 755 ✭✭✭Vita nova

For me, it was incredibly slow over the weekend but it's back to normal now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,725 ✭✭✭✭blueser

Painfully slow on the mobile, but fine on the laptop. Both of them are on the same WiFi in the house. Attachments are slow to load on both laptop and mobile.

*edit* and switching over to 4G on the phone doesn't help.

There doesn't appear to be any fixed patterns to what will and won't help view the site. Doing a major clear-out of the cache/cookies on your browser can help, as can trying incognito mode. None of these are foolproof answers though. The boards overlords know there is a problem - they posted on Twitter on 1st May "Hi all, we apologise for the ongoing issues that are resulting in slow load times for pages / unresponsive errors. We are aware of the issues, but unfortunately we don't have a timescale for when a fix will be in place. Sorry for the disruption."

So far there is no obvious evidence that this is being treated as a priority issue or that anyone is trying to fix it. The site has gone to shyte in recent weeks and nobody seems to have tried to fix it. In light of those awful page loading times, being redirected to 20 year old threads on the Touch site is a first world problem. Is boards still part of the same media group as thejournal.ie which is now in trouble? I could be wrong but I have a suspicion that a lot of the behind the scenes people have left and it's now running with a skeleton staff. They don't have a clue how to fix these latest problem. Maybe it suits them to run boards into the ground?

    No,
I only use Firefox for boards, and suffer the ads,
Chrome is my default browser and have Ablocker on that.

    Edit;
All good here now too,on Chrome,
can now get rid of Firefox.
