    I'm no expert but I'd guess your problem is in the areas you can't see.

    The photos, while they are not great, don't point to a massive insulation deficit so you need to look at airtightness, what insulation if any is in the sloped and flat part of the attic, as well as any gable wall.
    It looks as if the the eaves are fully stuffed, are the soffits ventilated?

    what is the insulation on the ceiling?

    I'll took at look in the crawl space between the ceiling and the roof, there is the same insulation there but unsure about the sloped part. I couldnt see into it. I'll try to get some more pics and get further down along the wall later to see.
