Hi there I’ve a quick question for anyone in the know-I’ve bought a 05 Cruiser low Kms on the clock that had a non starting issue i narrowed it down to not getting any pressure to the rail then figured it out that the pressure regulator valve or suction control valve on the pump was stuck solid closed without letting diesel through to the pump itself.....I freed it out by taking it off the pump and popped it back on and it started first tip.
I drove it about 5kms up the road and it cut out again so obviously the valve closed itself again so i ordered a new Denso one on eBay.
My question is is that fault common on the 3.0 D4D?I also ran it on the diagnostic computer and it threw up 0 faults.

Apart from the injector washers and oil pickup pipe is there any other common known problems with the 05 3.0d4d??

I have seen just about everything fail on them, currently putting a new crank in one. Had a non start in bout 2 years ago and a garage had changed pump injectors, injector driver tank and fuel lines and still would not start with no codes. Changed the rail and off she went.
Most issues you can put down to poor servicing through their life.

I suppose it’s like anything if you don’t look after it it will bite you.....people think because there a Toyota they will look after themselves!
I’ve my own lift so I’ll treat this one well and hopefully it will return the favor.

Injectors tend to give some bother when starting in mornings/cold. Knocking etc.

Brake calipers used to seize on these and cause problems.

By failing what did it start doing as I thought the lift pump was only to prime the system and purge out air?
Or is it meant to act like a non return valve normally and letting air and fuel back when it starts to fail??
