Considering picking one of these up as a replacement for an old Jetta. Took a 2011 out for a test with 180000km on it.
Immaculate condition with all major servicing done.

I'm just wondering why are these cars so cheap. They seem like a good job from what time I've had with it. I don't really care about resale value when it's as cheap as it is. Anyone out there have experience with one? There are a lot on the roads.

They are a good car and generally very reliable. They are no looker for sure and Renault's image keeps prices low.

Good chance it was bought as part of the scrappage deal at the time, we bought an 11 Fluence Dynamique new for 18k maybe less+ a 00 Mégane Classic, can't remember, the Fluence has nearly 300k on it now

Makes sense. I've often wondered why there are so many of them around and so cheap used. For the price I have nothing else is as nice to drive so I may take the gamble.

Well, other than the mrs randomly hitting things she shouldn’t be hitting, the only thing that cost us a few bob was the heater blower went in 2017 but she does like it hot & at full blast, serviced every 25k & timing belt every 130/140k

Awe the Megane Classic. That brings back memory's. We had one in the family for 3 years and could have bought another but changed to Octavia's then as the Renault aftersales service at the time was not great. It really liked to be revved our Megane. It was a lovely blue RT spec. Can't remember exactly but there was at least 30 thousand miles on it after 3 years.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

If servicing is done on time, particularly oil, they are very reliable, but don't touch one without a FSH.

Wife has just bought one of these with 125km on the clock. When should the timing belt be done? Anything else to keep an eye on? Have heard key battery can be a problem.

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

From memory, T belt & pump every 5 years or 150,000km, whichever comes first

Not sure what battery problem you mean, put a new one in every couple of years, you’ll get a message on the dash when it starts to run low, pick up a new battery in Tesco for a few euros
