The Washington Post reported in 2009 that Kim Jong-un's school friends recalled he "spent hours doing meticulous pencil drawings of Chicago Bulls superstar Michael Jordan".[31] He was obsessed with basketball and computer games,[28][32] and was a fan of Jackie Chan action movies.[33

The first official image of him as an adult was a group photograph released on 30 September 2010, at the end of the party conference that effectively anointed him, in which he is seated in the front row, two places from his father. This was followed by newsreel footage of him attending the conference.[41]

On 26 February 2013, Kim Jong‑un met Dennis Rodman,[166] which led many reporters to speculate that Rodman was the first American that Kim had met.[167] During Rodman's trip, Vice magazine correspondent Ryan Duffy said that "the leader was 'socially awkward' and didn't make eye contact when shaking hands,"[168] though extended eye contact and firm handshakes are generally less common in East Asian cultures

He murdered his brother and uncle. He fills his fat face while his countrymen starve and are forced to work for free in labour camps, decades at a time. He runs a government based purely on intimidation and fear. He threatens the world with nuclear conflict etc.

    So no.

No ****ing chance. He is a brutal dictator in charge of a murderous regime. Death would be too good for him.

Kim jung un murdered him? Or was it the North Korean regime? Do you think he is calling the shots?

Does he run the Government? Do you think if he chose to "liberate" North Korea, that he could make that decision

Is he not a puppet controlled by North Korean and Chinese security services?

Hell no, but I notice it's popular to somehow like him.
Perhaps by the same people that like Mao, Stalin and Pol Pot.

Why would anyone empathy for him ? He's living in a Truman show reality which is/ and will continue to lead to hardship for the North Korean people.

Exactly. He is living some weird truman show life. He has zero power to change anything. He is a symbolic figure head. He would probably love to open up to American values, but he would have a fatal "heart attack" if he expressed those views in public

That's why you should feel sorry for him

When I said I didn't care that Boris Johnson was sick people here called me a psychopath without any empathy.

Good to see you're allowed to not fake-care about certain people at least.

I struggle to have empathy with people that are far removed from myself. Take the Haiti disaster, undeniably tragic etc however I say that from a sort of statistics viewpoint, I never lost sleep over it.

First they came for the socialists...

If you could see life in North Korea you’d have little to no sympathy.

He is a victim of his own circumstance. I mean he is like one of the bad characters who gets to visit Willy Wonka's chocolate factory, you can hear the Oompa Loompas singing as they cart him off.....

" what do you get when you inherit an entire country? Killing your brother and uncle for starters, threatening nu - cle - ar - warrrrr.
what do you do when you want to get out? Go to your room and SHOUT !!

Oompa Loompa doopeddy do , if you are spoilt madman it will shine through "

    etc etc.

The power he has is scary.

    So no.

Firstly, he could be just a puppet. Born into this but with little control of his own life. He isnt the supreme leader that is made out in the media, there is a whole cohort of them. He needs support of other powerful and influential people. We don't really know the full workings of the place

His uncle was plotting against him , that is fair game. You mighnt like it but that is the way with royal families.

Dunno much why they did the brother? you can have that.

    Regarding his fat face..
he mightnt know the full extent of the suffering . He lived a sheltered life since birth and you've no idea if the accurate reports reach him.
History has shown for example, in the final days of the USSR the top brass were being lied to by people lower down the chain about how good/bad things were. In fact the western allies through their spying had a better handle on the USSR than the top communists did.
Sure , I see it in my job in IT - fellas putting massive spins on things and the board have no idea the true situation.

As for nuclear war, have you considered this.
Gaddafi took the western olive branch and abandoned nuclear weapons...and a few years later they fcuked him.
Only an utter fool would fall for that again. So you should full understand why he has armed NK with nukes. Why should he give up his nukes? I'd love to know.

I'm not saying he is perfect , he isn't. NK is a horrible place.

But you are judging him from a very blinkered point of view.

    No sympathy at all.

None of us are given a choice about the life we're born into, but we are given choices about what to do with that life.

A man who spent most of his formative years living and being educated in a liberal democracy, taking up the reins of a brutal dictatorship and keeping it business as usual, doesn't deserve respect or empathy.
