C19 Revenue and DSW payments

    Can someone please summarise the above for me please in the following context.

    Friend is employee of his own close company which has lost all work.
    If I understand the schemes, his company can apply for a Revenue subsidy to keep him on the books.
    .
    The DSW scheme is paid directly to the employee.

    Which is the better way to go?

    If your friend has "lost all work" and they are fully unemployment & must apply to the DEASP for the COVID-19 Pandemic Unemployment Payment which is a €350 flat rate. They can do so on mywelfare.ie .

    If the company is continuing in operation (albeit at a reduce capacity/demand) & they can proved to revenue that they have lost at least 25% of their normal turnover... then yes the company can apply for the temporary wage subside scheme on ROS.

    Revenue are essential paying €410 for each employee that qualify under the scheme regardless of the employees normal income however this will be reconciled at a later date.

    > If the employee's normal Net Pay would be 585 or less - the employee would get 70% up to a max of €410.

    > If the employee's normal Net pay would be greater than 585 but less that 960 - the employee would get €350.

    note that the rules are about to change (on May 4th) so its a bit more complex.

    In short, if your friend has no work for themselves or their staff in the coming weeks, the temporary wage subside scheme is unlikely to provide must assistance to them.
