Triton T90SI Shower Head leaking when off

I have read a thread here that suggests the solenoid valve is the reason for water continuing to leak from the shower head when off but when I tested it with a multimeter I had a reading of 3.5 ohms which I thought was ok. Is there anything else it could be? Could it be the valve itself by any chance is not working but the solenoid is ok? Any help appreciated.

Are you sure it's fresh run through of water and not water remaining in the hose from the last shower that is escaping?

First thing I would do is remove the hose from the shower and see if water is coming from the actual shower itself. My guess is the issue is wear and tear on the rubber washers at either the connection of the shower head to the hose or the hose to the shower. No actual new water may be entering the hose it's just releasing water left in hose though the head as seal is broken. Has a similar problem before and resolved it by removing the washer and refitting the other way around.

Make sure all your connections are sound also and nothing is left off loose or hanging all of them . The electrical ones. Dodgy connection can mess it up also.

The shower just runs a trickle of water constantly and never runs out after a shower. It is leaking water through the system somehow when turned off. It is a valve of some sort not closing correctly for whatever reason inside the shower. It could be the actual valve rather than the solenoid but before I go buying a new one I’m trying to be sure that 3.5ohm reading is sufficient as I think it’s borderline and is it possible that it’s just the valve if the solenoid is ok? Thanks.

There are two parts to the solenoid. The solenoid coil should have a reading of around 3.7 but this isn't the issue. A bad coil either shuts off the water while you are in the shower or the water won't come out at all.

The solenoid valve is the other part of the solenoid. The water won't turn off or drips when this fails. The solenoid valve is always sold with the coil. You either need a new solenoid or a new shower. Solenoid will set you back around 30 euros. Part number 22009120

Many thanks. Don’t mind buying the full piece but just needed to be sure. It’s a great reliable shower so didn’t want to swap out for a new one for the sake of a new valve and solenoid. Thanks again.

Not to question you but when I googled the part number it was for a T80 but mine is a T90SI and keeps showing part number 22009110 instead of 22009120. Would it be 22009110? Thanks.

You are getting results for a UK Triton T80SI. This is actually in the T90 family & is nothing like the Irish T80SI shower. It can be a little confusing if you don't realize that the UK & Irish market aren't the same on a lot of showers

Again, many thanks. Very helpful indeed.

Sleeper12 Apologies again but my Triton solenoid actually has part number 22009110 but appears to be a discontinued part. Was it replaced with 22009120 or will that suffice before I order it. Thanks again.

Had that issue with the t90si dripping when off and got this tip on here I think,(few years ago now).
Anyway screw the head off the hose and start the shower, when the water is flowing through the hose put your thumb over the end of it for 2 seconds just to give it a shot backwards a few times.Turn off shower and screw the head back on and see does it stop.Works for me anytime it happens.Something to do with a valve sticking apparently,so might be worth a try before taking it assunder.

Not recommended. It can damage the shower. It can also cause the pressure release device to pop
