Had a calf born this morning, pedigree limo bull, I bought the mother as a maiden heifer at a clearance sale 8.5 months and only found out she was in calf 2 weeks ago when she began springing. Anyways I assume one of the sellers pedigree bulls tipped her before he sold her. Is there a way I can genotype the calf to get the sire details then find out who bought the sire and possibly get papers for the calf?

If you ring ICBF i'd imagine that they can send out a genomic tag for the calf that you can get analysed.
The sire and dam will need to be genotyped for this to work tho.

+1 on this. Hopefully the person who you bought her off has his bulls genotyped and in system. ICBF will do either hair follicle or ear notch to determine pedigree.

I'd say he did he had fairly decent stock and had huge interest in his pedigree breeding. On the downside the calf has its back left leg held out a bit. It can put weight on it but there seems to be something not right with the leg.

You could probably make a claim against the seller if you so wish.

Tbh that would always be my last resort. He seemed a decent man. There's enough problems in the world without making more of them for ourselves is the way I see it ha.

There’s a lot of people who don’t know their pedigree and it’s getting worse.
