Was thinking of buying a citizen bn0118-55e and have come across a brand of watches called momentum and they seem to have the very same design etc as the citizen.
Anyone know anything about the brand.

I have one, it's the very fittingly named M50, reminds me of back home and the many days I was stuck at that bloody toll bridge when it had the barriers.

I have used a hammer and chisel on the sapphire crystal to remove the wart from the date window, the watch looks better without it. Can't find a fault with the watch at all, the case is finished really nice and it comes with a decent Bonetto Cinturini rubber strap. I guess it depends if you prefer Citizen's eco drive compared to Momentum with a standard Citizen quartz movement.

Ohh the dial glows like crazy if you're into lume.

I imagine the only reason for magnifiers on the date is that the date ring wheel has to fit 31 numbers, so the lettering must be small, even in a fairly big watch? So small that it would be hard to read without magnification?

I hate those magnifiers too. Good riddance, HDMI! And I'm generally no fan of having the date on a mechanical watch. Maybe these two issues are related :D

Is that just because it's annoying when you go to rotate or do you just not like fussy dials? I have to say, it's the one complication that I use every single day. In my line of work, I'm constantly having to check the date though so maybe it makes more of a difference to me ( I don't know why but I just never remember the date!). I don't have a GMT but would actually find one pretty useful in work if I did.

I agree on the magnifier, I can't stand them! HDMIs watch looks so much better without. I can't believe you pulled it off without damaging the crystal!

    Bit of both!

And I usually know what date it is anyway although these last few weeks it has been a bit harder :D

    Thanks HDMI.
Did not know the momentum had citizen movement inside. The momentum comes with a strap for roughly 150 e plus courier while a titanium bracelet brings the price to nearly 350 approx on the net.
Watch shop has the citizen for same price as u say with eco drive...
    Decision's ¡!!!!!

I'm getting old so my next watch will have a wart, getting too hard to stretch out my arm far enough and then squint to try and figure out is it the 8th or 9th, 16th/18th/19th and so on. I think today is the 21st, but at first glance at my watch it could be the 24th:o

Up to now I hated warts on watches too. If they are on straight I'll tolerate them from now on.

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

Another old man here. Got reading glasses last year as one day I went to a restaurant, it was very dark and the menu was in green and red. And I couldn't read it

Haven't used the glasses though as in most of my life it is not dark and the letters are not and tiny and red / green :p Thankfully the deterioration seems to be very slow. Might need the reading glasses by the time I'll hit three score maybe which is still many years away :pac:
