Why does the Commission for Aviation Regulation not enforce EU261

    EU261 requires requested cash refunds be processed within 7 days.

    Both Ryanair and Aer Lingus are not complying with this law. Ryanair has stated that claims will not be processed "until Covid has abated" because its staff are working from home! Aer Lingus are claiming a large backlog.

    There is ample evidence that airlines are dragging their feet to get passengers to re-book flights or accept vouchers with very limiting terms and conditions.

    There is no doubt that refund requests can be processed automatically.
    There is no need for human intervention. Some of the car hire companies process refund requests within 24 Hours.

    When is the Commission for Aviation Regulation going to enforce this regulation?

    At the moment it expects every passenger to wait 4 to 6 weeks before it will even accept a complaint.

    The Swords Small Claims court can process a claim within 48 hours.
    The court require a response from the airline within 15 calendar days.

    It looks like the Swords District Court is a more effective regulator than the people who are paid to do the job.

    It appears the Commission is more interested in the sexy high flying technical issues rather than the grubby work of protecting consumers.

    When is the Regulator going to do it's job?
