Deepening a well, can neighbour stop us?

Hi, we bought a new house last year with an existing well but in summer, good weather it dries up, it is very close to our neighbours well about 10m away, we don't get on at all. Can they stop us deepening the well as I it may effect their water quantity? Mains or water scheme is not an option, we are not near any other houses, we have first child on the way and are a bit stressed about this.
Their well is very deep I believe, I just don't want drilling to begin and then have an issue. Thanks in advance.

Is the well on your property? Is the well and any septic tank/soak away in compliance with the planning granted?

    Drill away

There's a thing called the cone of depression where two wells adjacent to each other can influence each other, one may perform better when the water table is under pressure. I'd imagine for two 'normal' houses it shouldn't be an issue. Make sure your driller gives you advice and go deep enough

Yes we extended the house a little and re did the percolation and sewer tank which is roughly 50m away and planning was no issue.
It was an old tank so council had no issue once it was redone.
