Hi my welder is on the blink. It has only done approx 8 hours works in 10 years. The warning light comes on when it's powered up and nothing doing. Any suggestions welcome.

It may need a board fixed inside, have you tried calling or emailing the place you got it from?

I had a little think about this one. It is unusual for the machine to work fine, be switched off, stored away and then the next use, it doesn't work.

As these inverters are basically all PCB's, there's really no user serviceable parts in them.
One thing you could try (because the unit may have got a smack while not in use) is to unplug, take off the cover and do a visual check of any connections ie, make sure the jumper leads and ribbon cables that clip on to the various boards, are seated properly. Not sure if there are capacitors in there but if there is, stay away from them.

The user manual doesn't seem much use either for trouble-shooting. If you don't find a problem doing above then it's back to the supplier.

Yes I rang the supplier, the only solution they could give me was to return it at my expense to their supplier in England.

Thanks for your reply, I'm having my local spark look at it today. Why do you say stay away from the capacitors? The warning light came on a couple of times before but would go out after a little while.

Capacitors store electricity. It's their job. If you touch them and they're not fully discharged, they can shock you.

R-tech should have decent backup, I would have thought the local supplier should have a stock of spare parts handy?
That's poor enough service TBH, any place selling welding gear should have better back up than you have got.

My local spark says it's out of his league. I'll contact the supplier again Monday and try for a more efficient person.
