so looks like tonight i will be told i'm being laid off temporarily due to cost cutting as a result of covid-19.

I assume i will be allowed to apply for the CoVid-19 pandemic payment?

Just the government website states the following
If you have become unemployed as a result of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) you can apply for a COVID-19 Pandemic Unemployment Payment. This is an emergency payment for a 12 week duration with a rate of €350 per week, during which time you must apply for the standard Jobseeker’s application. To apply select COVID-19 Pandemic Unemployment Payment
If you have been laid off temporarily without pay, you can apply for a Jobseeker’s Allowance/Benefit

    A bit confused

Apply online for PUP just as soon as you are laid off. You need your eircode and your IBAN. Even the most minor spelling mistake will have you disqualified so take care. You would only be applying for JSB/JSA as well if you have dependent children or if you think you will be laid if longer then the 12 weeks.

I know this not relevant to the question but has anyone heard of a person receiving the covid payment after returning from England where they were in college haven't worked in Ireland for years

No those people aren’t eligible for covid payment. Apply for regular Jobseekers.

Just an update, so got laid off but will be put on the subsidy scheme while i'm laid off.

So my employment isn't broken, and when markets open back up they will look to start bringing us back. But i'm about 40th in that queue at least:(

But at least i'll still get a decent chunk of money(between 350-410 a/week) and get to stay away from people and reduce my potential exposure to CoVid-19...need to look at the positives
