These measurements were taken at various points across the front two tyres.

I usually buy tyres like that from Tyreland, loads of meat on them.

They look around 4mm. That's around 50% worn, most main dealers will advise replacement now but there's probably another useable 1mm or so on them. 1.8 is the legal limit but a lot of performance is lost below 3mm.

I'd leave them another little while but they're on the cards for later in the year.

They look grand for another while, what condition are the sidewalls like on them?

Nobody has asked the OP when he bought those tyres and/or how many kms he has clocked up on them.

So nobody can say how long more (time or distance) he will get out of them.

Age and condition of the sidewalls are as important as tread depth.

Just remember that marker is the minimum legal thread depth. Your tyres could well be past their use by date before they reach that marker.

How old are they ? Rubber on shoulders looks perished.

My front tyres 245/40/19 had a good bit of tread left (4+mm) on them but had been on the car since I bought it and to me it felt like they just stopped wearing down..... I was on my 2nd pair of rears but the fronts were still legal and looked good.

Took an off camber corner in the wet with the car fully loaded and had a fairly scary moment of under steering towards a wall.

Took them to get replaced and the rubber was rock hard and next to useless..... tread depth is only 1 part of the story.

Yeah, 1.6mm of tread is definitely not good, to say the least! Very bad advice from that poster, imo.

Absolutely loads left on those, I’d less than that on my rears over a year ago and they still aren’t fully worn.

FYI That marker is 2mm the recommended change depth. Not 1.6mm the minimum legal tread depth.
