Normally at this point you'd be advised to go knocking on doors and to ask farmers. But as you can appriceate this wouldn't be the right time to do so.

I would assume, by the fact that you are asking the question, you don't personally know someone who stalks. If you do then this is your first port of call for local knowledge and help.

Do you hunt, if so were abouts?, ( no post codes!), the ground may be suitable and you just don't realise it. Talk to the farmers you know, you'll be suprised as to the little ( or big ) pockets of land they might have some were else.

Your other option is to look at a slot on a paid lease such as a Coilite Wood, see the sticky on the top of the for sale section. https://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2057968839
Syndicates will be renewing thier lease in the next month or two and it is usual for spots to become available. The cost is dependent on the deer cull and the number of guns on the wood. Some places may go for as little €300- €500 per person, others will cost in the thousands of euro bracket.

If your completely new to the whole thing it can be very hard for you if you have nobody to walk out with or give you first hand direction.

    Best of luck.

Once this is all over you should go drop into farmers. Best find land just off forestry. Farmers are usually happy to have deer culled when there are so many deer eating their grass.

Introduce yourself, ask politely if the deer cause them any problems. Ask if you can cull them and offer the farmer some venison. Best leave a business card with them if you get a no. Also mention you're licensed and insured.

You will likely have to knock on a few doors before you get a yes but it's worth the effort.
