Would this be considered harassment? My friend said what I've been doing would fall under this.

Long story-short, there are some girls who goes on my bus and twice in the past 3 monthsI've sent her romantic messages under an anonymous accounts on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. I dont know her at all so its a bit weird but is there any legal issue.

Just to be clear i dont bombard her with any messages, just say "ive seen you and your pretty etc"

It may not be illegal but it's a bit creepy tbh.

I would file under creepy for sure and it should stop and if it was to be carried on I presume it could be considered as stalking

Jesus Christ that's obsessive. Nobody wants to get a random message of being stalked

I thought its only stalking if its threatening or harassing. The messages i send are just expressing romantic interest

Your victim may have a different opinion as to what your messages constitute.
Just leave them alone, it's wrong and as already said creepy.

    Would this be considered harassment?

It’s obviously not intentional on your part but it is harassment and could easily land you in hot water.

    Anonymously? Through multiple fake account?

    You're a stalker.

Why are you using an anonymous instead of your real insta account?

Doing so makes it creepy and also pushes more into illegal territory.
Plus who would answer to some anonymous messages?

Try and put yourself in her position for a minute. She is receiving repeated anonymous messages on multiple platforms. Why express romantic interest anonymously? What is she supposed to do in response? I can't imagine how on edge I'd feel if I was her.

    Also your title is misleading.

    You're not communicating with her.

    You're stalking her.

    Harassment.

10.—(1) Any person who, without lawful authority or reasonable excuse, by any means including by use of the telephone, harasses another by persistently following, watching, pestering, besetting or communicating with him or her, shall be guilty of an offence.

    (2) For the purposes of this section a person harasses another where—

    (a) he or she, by his or her acts intentionally or recklessly, seriously interferes with the other's peace and privacy or causes alarm, distress or harm to the other, and

    (b) his or her acts are such that a reasonable person would realise that the acts would seriously interfere with the other's peace and privacy or cause alarm, distress or harm to the other.

    (3) Where a person is guilty of an offence under subsection (1), the court may, in addition to or as an alternative to any other penalty, order that the person shall not, for such period as the court may specify, communicate by any means with the other person or that the person shall not approach within such distance as the court shall specify of the place of residence or employment of the other person.

    (4) A person who fails to comply with the terms of an order under subsection (3) shall be guilty of an offence.

    (5) If on the evidence the court is not satisfied that the person should be convicted of an offence under subsection (1), the court may nevertheless make an order under subsection (3) upon an application to it in that behalf if, having regard to the evidence, the court is satisfied that it is in the interests of justice so to do.

    (6) A person guilty of an offence under this section shall be liable—

    (a) on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding £1,500 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 12 months or to both, or

    (b) on conviction on indictment to a fine or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 7 years or to both.

Romantic messages sent on LinkedIn? :)

It's completely inappropriate to contact someone anonymously and inform them that you've seen them - on one platform it would be bad, but to do it on more than one, and especially LinkedIn?

Why couldn't you just have spoken to her in person? I think it's too late for that now, in this instance.

It's possible to chat anonymously with people over the internet, via Forums (do they still exist? oh yes, this is one! :D) etc.

If you ever do speak to her in real life, don't say it was you sending the online messages.
Has she ever responded by the way?

Romantic messages sent on LinkedIn? :)

LinkedIn is basically evolving into Facebook.

OP: Some people call it stalking, I call it dating, discuss.

People get random messages daily, but once a pattern begins it can end up like this case.
