Travel insurance query

I was due to travel to Cuba with delta . They have cancelled my flight. I spoke to their customer service agent today who said they can give me a credit note for the full amount paid, or refund the taxes and charges but not the fare.

Where your flight is cancelled, you are entitled to your choice of:

Refund of the cost of your ticket within 7 days or
Re-routing to your final destination at the earliest opportunity or
Re-routing at a later date at your convenience, subject to availability of seats

Tell then you want ticket cost refunded under EU Regulation 261/2004.

put in writing and give then deadline to process refund.

if they refuse, request your credir card compant to do charge back as service not provided,

Yes. Applies to all passengers departing from airports within the EU and European Economic Area (EEA).
