Extension / planning permission

    Hello.

We just bought a house, and want to build an extension out the back. The extension will be less than 30m squared and so doesn't need planning however the extension will mean leaving 18m squared of garden. It seems you need to leave 25m squared of garden once extension is built...

This strikes me as weird as I've seen so, so many houses that don't have that much space out the back?

We have a front garden and common/shared area in the back that we can use so it's not like we'll be stuck for outdoor space!

Anyone know anything about this silly rule?

You need planning or reduce the size of the extension.
It’s not a silly rule. All rules are silly when they effect you doing something.

Just apply for planning or reduce extension. Relatively straight forward.
