Does anyone have any idea what this is and if it's bad? I noticed it yesterday at the trunk of one of my ash trees and when I checked again this morning it had grown a bit. I noticed something similar a few weeks ago around some other ash trees (this can be seen in the top left of the first image), however when I got rid of it with a shovel it didn't come back.
