Downloading WhatsApp

I've gone to the WhatsApp Messenger page on my 'phone and clicked Install. It then displays a "Waiting for download" message and a "spinning" phone logo.

It continues to do this for the next 5 or 10 mins until I cancel and then click Install again, but it just continues to do the same thing.

Presumably if it is actually downloading it would state downloading or similar as opposed to waiting for download?

    Thanks.

I know this might be obvious but are you doing it in your browser or the playstore app?

I searched for WhatsApp then when I got to their page, I clicked on the download button. So, browser.

Do I require a playstore app downloaded before I can download the Whatsapp app?

Are you on WiFi? Have you enabled "Download over WiFi only" in the Play store?

    Yes, WiFi.

Chances are that's probably not enabled. How do I do that?

I've clicked the Play Store button on my phone and searched within that for WhatsApp and found the page you've linked-to above.

I then clicked on Install, though it's giving the same message that it's waiting for download.

Possibly therefore I need to enable "Download over WiFi only" as per the message by F00t13f4n

If you are using WiFi it'll download regardless of your settings. Have you tried turning your phone off and on again, that's the 1st few steps when doing anything with computers or phones.

That option will stop apps downloading over mobile data. If you have WiFi coverage, I don't think this will help.

There are steps here that you should probably follow, which may help...

Thanks Del2005 - that did the trick, have now downloaded it.

Should have remembered that from the IT Crowd.
