Dell takes over 3 weeks for delivery?

I was going to buy a Dell laptop this evening and when I got to the checkout page it said the estimated delivery date is 16/04/2020.

Does it normally take so long before an order from Dell arrives? Or is this due to the coronavirus situation?

For that matter, can I even be confident that it would arrive on the estimated date or could I be looking at waiting an indefinitely long amount of time for the laptop to arrive? Where are these laptops coming from that it takes over 3 weeks to deliver to Ireland?

In normal circumstances it usually does not take 3 weeks for a laptop to arrive. I ordered one in January and the shipping was delayed. When I rang them to inquire they said it was due to logistical difficulties with the shipping from China. This was right at the start of the shutdown in China. Make of that what you will. Most of the Dell laptops come from China.

I'd say the 3 weeks estimate is probably reliable though at this stage. When I ordered the estimate was 1 week, it arrived 1 week late so 2 weeks in total.

Given the current demand for home working I'm not suprised.

Lots of work from home equipment is sold out in retailers at the moment.

Production capacity has probably been reduced too.

bought a laptop off them about a year and a half ago, delivery took over 4 weeks but when I checked the paper work , the warranty period began on day of order not dispatch or delivery date.

long story short after asking to take it back and refund me I was eventually offered a 20% refund on the purchase price, which i accepted
