Watering advice

Apologies for the very basic question but planted bare root Portuguese Laurel for hedging about 3 days ago. Soil is clay, digging down to root level it's damp but not waterlogged. I know bare root plants need loads of water and they've all gone droopy so normally would be out with the hose but bit scared cause soil already feels damp. It's quite an exposed site so the wind may be contributing. Any advice?

Maybe water early in the day in case of frost at night

Yes water! If you haven't already give the roots a good soak to settle the soil around them, then each morning (or more often if you can) spray the foliage.
This will help the leaves to retain moisture until new roots develop.

Thanks a million to you both! Will give it a go and see how we get on.
