    Hi

With the current ban on flights to the US I had a look at flight radar and expected to see very quite sky's over the Atlantic. There seems to be a lot of traffic, I even noticed an aer Lingus flight heading to LAX. Would these just be carrying cargo or would they be carrying passengers too?

It's NOT a flight ban, its a passenger ban.

US citizens can still travel west, Europeans can still travel East.

    Nope.
That was rescinded. On Monday at midnight US East Coast time the UK & RoI were included in the ban announced on March 11th.

Good point but still a lot of aircraft in the air with a passenger ban for Europeans. Would they fly the planes half empty?

They may well so, passengers aren’t the sole revenue stream.

Who says they are “half empty”?
They could have a few dozen yanks going West but be chock full going East with Europeans getting out of dodge.

What needs to be considered is how many people are actually booked on the flight, not how many would be showing up.

If there were 200 people booked on the flight and the airline cancelled, every passenger would be entitled to EU261 compensation and you can bet the house they'd all claim it, even if they decided they would not travel anyway.

To avoid this the airline must still operate the flight, even if no one shows up outbound and they bring back 6 Europeans.

They don't care, they're just posting garbage to get their post count up... which is precisely why the post is deleted.
