Chances of Trump cancelling the election

Is it possible that we might see Trump find a way to cancel the election. If the virus starts to cause huge numbers of deaths in the United States and his popularity takes a battering, is there a possibility he might use the virus to pass some kind of emergency war time legislation to stay in power (similar to what FDR did)?

This is just pure speculation obviously, but I don't think it is out of the question. If Trump calls the virus a hoax his supporters believe him, if he then tells them he knew it was gonna be a pandemic before anybody else they believe him. It seems to me they will believe just about anything he tells them (I am aware that a huge % of Americans see him for what he is but the fact remains).
