American Airlines changing itinerary

Have booked flights to Colombia all through American Airlines. Originally Dub-Charlotte with 90 min connection to Dallas (90 minute connection) to Bogota. That was tight enough as it was but was happy with it as booked through the one ticket.

However I got an email from American Airlines a couple of days ago to tell me my itinerary has changed. It is now Dublin to Charlotte as above. A 1 hour 40 min connection to make there for a flight to Miami, and then I only have a 40 min connection in Miami to make the Bogota flight.

I know it's all booked through the one ticket so it's on them to get me to Bogota but I don't see how me or my bags are gonna make that 40 minute connection in Miami. Any advice?

First advice is to look at the news. No one can tell you anything certain about future flights. You’re going to just have to wait and see if these flights even exist in the future

If it's all booked on one ticket then the airline are under obligation to get you to Bogota. However, your concerns are valid as the connection is so short.

Have you called the airline? That really is the best/only advice. Express your concerns and ask for a better connection. I checked the Miami Airport website and they don't have much in the way of information on minimum valid connections but given it's the USA I would be looking at min 2hrs

I will also say, given the situation, you are likely to be on hold for a considerable amount of time with the airline. Just as an FYI :)

Good luck - Colombia is one of my favourite countries in the entire world!
