    Hi,
So we have out kitchen in but there is a steel beam that is sitting in the countertop that is currently silver.
The obvious colour is to match the beam the same as the cabinets but im not sure if we are missing an opportunity to offset the kitchen with an nice accent colour.
    Same for the upstand.

    Any thoughts?

I would try painting it a bright red or blue. You might like it or you might not. In the end, it's only paint. You can change it.

Bright red was considered for the beam but the upstand possibly not.
You are right about it just being paint bur with so much other work i have to do in the house I'd love to minimize the amount of times. Dark green was also being considered

Why isn't it covered in. I'd add board and paint it white tbh or a grey to blend the wall

I didnt think it necessary to cover it in when paint will cover it in i guess. Its a square beam so covering it square just adds bulk to something youll paint anyway

I think white for the upstand might work but white on the beam feels like an opportunity lost if you know what i mean. Feels a little safe

The type of beam it is, it looks like an after thought. The kitchen looks so premium I'd hide that beam tbh. Little cost to stick board to it.

Lovely kitchen btw walls are excellent

You don't want to be introducing a new colour as it will stand out like a sore thumb, use one you're already using

Thanks, were happy with how itsturning out. The walls were the old existing wall that we knocked down, insulated and rebuilt using the same stone.

Hmmm I'd honestly not considered its taking the look down. The whole kitchen is kind of industrial looking (steel and glass screen door, opd school desk for countertop, exposed beams, red brick wall opposite the kitchen etc etc) that i thought it would just be okay to leave it exposed.
I might mock up something in birch ply

    I hear you,
We are okay with it standing out as long as it works.
Kind of like the attached picture. Totally different room but this red beam works
