Slurry pit regulations

We have an old slurry pit that needs a little safety upgrade. It’s not very deep. Max 6 foot.

As it stands there is no safety rail or fence around the external walls.

I am thinking of attaching some angle iron or similar along edge and running chicken wire or similar to fence it off.

Are there any regulations that need to be followed for an old slurry pit like this? No point wasting money and would prefer to do it right.
