This was a thing like 15 years ago, do people still do this?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 610 ✭✭✭shane b

I had the "24" ringtone for a while back a few years ago. I also had tales of the unexpected on my work phone. I was working as a maintenance technician at the time so calls would be about equipment breakdowns so kinda unexpected in nature.

Does everyone not just have their phone on vibrate now?

Nothing more annoying than some ignorant pr1ck with a loud ringtone taking 45 mins to take their phone out of their pocket and then start yapping away loudly.

I'm pretty certain there's a mute button on some phones to allow switching from ringtone when it's somewhere in the house, and vibrate when in public areas.
No mute button for loud people yet though.

People started to realise that other people are annoying so texting was invented so we don't have to talk to other people. Great invention! No need for a call when it can be said by text.

Like above, I thought most people just use vibrate now, so no need for a fancy ringtone. But, I recommend the Countdown Clock, especially if you have your voicemail set to 30 seconds!

IIRC, it was added in to phones as an after thought.

Great for people who suffer from hearing issues.

No one likes my novelty ringtone, an audio recording of a phone on vibrate sitting on a hard surface.

I have never had anything other than a ring-ring setting on any of my phones.

If you're a teen I could maybe understand, but why someone in their 40s or 50s would want the A-Team as their ringtone simply baffles me.

I have it on vibrate now. Back in the day it was Murder She Wrote. I thought it was so cool. What a saddo I was.

I used to have the ‘Catchphrase’ buzzer sound when I got a message. Thrilling.

    Simpler times.

Used to have Knight Rider as my ringtone on the 3510i back in the good days

I have this one (without the first 20 seconds of the Intro):

Also, a great ringtone for your morning alarm is the theme from Shaft. I use it every once in a while.

Word of warning though, any song you use for your alarm with ruin the song when you hear it elsewhere, so use sparingly.

Had the 24 tone someone linked above for a while.

Then I started watching House of Cards and switched to the default Blackberry one Frank used :

Still using it. Although I see there's a newer version now.

    Prefer the original though.
