    Hi,

I'm looking for some recommendations for hotels/ apartments /resorts in mainland Spain.
Normally we go to PDC in Lanzarote however am finding the four hour flight a bit hectic with small children and was hoping that I could find somewhere similar with a slightly shorter flight. Grandparents will be travelling with us, so looking for somewhere fairly central that will cater to three generations. Suitable for young children, Not too hilly, close enough to the beach, some decent bars (not nightclubs) and restaurants close by ( for when grandparents babysit :)) and for a nice family meal out.

Not a lot to ask for :-)

    Any recommendations gratefully appreciated.

What do you like to do with the children, what ages are they?

If you transfer what you normally do on PDC we might get an idea as to what might suit somewhere along the East Coast of Spain.

    Portugal is an option too.

    Thanks for the response,

    They're 5 and 3 so don't need adventure sports just yet :)
Just looking for somewhere with a nice beach, accommodation with a kids pool and maybe a playground - not necessarily in the hotel but close by. Would prefer somewhere central rather than on the outskirts of a town - Grandparents coming too so they'd like to be able to walk to the shops, bars and restaurants easily.

Been to Sitges twice pre kids But would be good for kids too.
Nice long beach with a nice centre area with good restaurants.
Fly to Barcelona and 30-45 mins on the train from the airport

We love Fuengirola Beach Aparthotel..We're going back this year for our 7th time - lots of families return year after year. There is a kiddies club, a playground, astro turf pitch, games room, gym, kids pool as well as the normal pool..its about 5 mins walk to the beach and alongside a large shopping center (Miramar). Its about 20 mins walk to the center of Fuengirola but lots of bars, restaurants and shops on the way. Its only about a 20 min drive from Malaga Airport or you can get the train from the train station to Fuengirola but would probably need a taxi at that stage to get you to the hotel

Salou is only slightly further down the coast from Sitges and IMHO has more going on. Big, safe beach with play areas, nice old town, livlier new tow, lots of nice restaurants. Portaventra & Ferrariland close by. Kids would love the Sesame Street part of Portaventura in particular.

Choice of apartments or hotels but I'd recommend Camping La Siesta. In a quiet residential area, five minutes walk from the beach & nice mobile homes with decks. Fantastic pools, ball courts, kids clubs & animation day & night. Not cheap but at least a third cheaper than Sanguli or Cambrils Park. Incredibly safe and everything is single storey so no balconies to worry about with small children around.

If mobile homes aren't your thing then the same campsite have two lots of apartments, one of which has 3 bedroom units so you could all share. The apartments don't have a pool but you do have access to all the facilities in the campsite.

    Thanks everyone.

Fuengirola Beach Aparthotel looks fab but I'm not sure a 20 min walk would be very appealing to my parents.

Salou looks promising but I'm not sure a campsite would appeal to my parents. Would there something for them there ? Is the campsite close enough to the centre that they could go for a walk around the shops or go for dinner? They're in their early 70's and while not exactly infirm my mother does have bad arthritis in her knees so doesn't like to stay too far away from the centre in case she has difficulties getting back.

If not the campsite are their any good apartments / hotels around the main centre ?

It's not a campsite in the same way as the Eurocamp etc. sites. It's compact, it's quite flat, it's very secure & it's quiet at night. 5-10 minutes walk from the old town. Bar & restaurant on site with "shows" at night. There are restaurants with a few minutes walk or the new town/centre is a 10+ minute walk in the other direction. Beach is 5 minutes away. Taxis are plentiful and cheap should walking prove too much. The large apartments owned by the site are a short walk away. If you search Barlovento Apartments they should be easy to find

I’ve been to Salou also and both myself and my wife thought that Sitges was far far nicer. Much more quaint while still having plenty of life and decent restaurants.
The old town is a charming place.
