Petrol in diesel car!

Mistakenly put 30 quid of petrol in Diesel VW 2012 passat 2.0 tdi and drove it for good while, car in limp mode now, no power at all.

Got garage to clean and drain fuel system and change fuel filter but still not running well at all.

I got Vcds scanner, it shows air pressure sensor fault, hight pressure. I also noticed injectors live data reading seems quite off, like one injector is 1.80 mg and the others are 0.25mg / - 1.8mg.....
Have no clue about those data reading but seems the numbers are not the same.

What could be wrong ? Injectors, fuel pump.....

    Anyone experienced this situation before.

    Thanks

If you drove it for a long time who knows what damage is done. Injectors are more than likely all goosed.

Try ring your insurance company and see if you have cover as it could get very expensive

Insurance is no help, have third party cover only, the car seems to run fine after i clear the fault in ECU, then after a minute it goes to limp mode again, blue smoke coming from exhaust !

i sourced second hand injectors, will swap them today and see.

I'd check for swarf in the fuel system from excessive wear on the HPP before fitting replacement injectors, otherwise you'll risk wrecking them again.

Did the car get a new fuel filter?

I'm baffled why all car manufacturers don't fit a system to prevent misfueling , BMW have a very effective system, where the wider diesel nossel has to push 3 pins to allow the nossel in .

The narrower petrol nossel will only push 2 of the pins and won't be allowed to enter.

Sounds like some women I've dated tbh!!!!

Ford's "Easyfuel" system is similar, and works well.

I managed to do this 2 weeks ago. Put in 8 litres of petrol into a diesel engine. I topped up with Diesel (so there was about 40 odd litres of diesel in it) and also luckily had some diptaine with me. Car still running today. I have since "brimmed" the tank again with diesel. Hope it works out for you OP.

There is a product out there called "fuel angel" that prevents misfueling.

They work well, but I've seen one break and bits of metal fell down the filler tube.

Changed fuel injectors last night, car seems to be running ok, engine power is back to normal.
Will drive it fir a while a see. Fingers crossed

I appreciate what they're going for with that, but I hate petrol stations now. Have to beat the pump into the car a lot of the time. If you don't get the angle right, you're standing there wrestling with it at the forecourt. :o

Mind you mine is an older car, so maybe someone just broke it before me.

High pressure pump is probably fecked also. It might be OK, but it is now in question and you could never trust it. It is safer to just replace it.

Rest of fuel lines may potentially have wear debris in them that could destroy any new parts you fit.

A comprehensive flushing out of all fuel lines downstream of the filter is essential.

Did similar once, and brimmed as you did. Didn't seem to bother the car.

@KKV It's probably broken, my wife's car is a Ford diesel and neither she nor I have any issues with it.

I know a man that filled his diesel tank with Ad Blue last week!

I did the same three or four weeks back in a 2015 CC. Tank was nearly empty and put a couple of litres of unleaded in it before I realized I’d the wrong nozzle in my hand!

I filled the tank with diesel and drove off without issue. Has been running fine since(touch wood). Drove to Galway and back last weekend.

Could I be facing potential issues?

I don't know but on another note I know a Kerryman who put diesel in the Adblue to save money...
