GOG 30-day refund policy (unlimited playtime)

Not sure if this should go in the off-topic chat thread, but seems like it might warrant it's own.

GOG have announced an updated refund policy, which will now refund you for up to 30 days after purchase (or release for pre-orders) regardless of the length of time you've played.

Obviously, it's hugely open to abuse, and they reserve the right to refuse refunds in particular cases.

But have to say it's a welcome development, the existing 2-hour window on other stores often isn't enough time to encounter issues

It's a very generous offer. I'd assume they'll only allow people to do it a few times before being a bit more picky about who gets it.

I like GoG and do often try to purchase games from them. Seems like reasonable people running the show.

I will pretty much always buy games on GOG above alternatives. There is one caveat. If I know that games have more mod support (for example, Kenshi was the one that burned me) I will get it on Steam.

That said, there are games that I have bought on Steam/elsewhere that eventually I have bought again on GOG just to support them and the devs (Terraria, Grim Dawn to name two).

GOG was my go-to as well for years until Valve released the proton compatibility tool. It didn't help that GOG has ignored Galaxy's #1 all-time most requested feature and also nuked the user lists that exposed inferior versions of games listed on GOG compared to their competition. Probably won't ever buy anything there again, they've gone in a direction I can't follow but I'm not sad about my library. Always have the DOOM WAD at hand I guess :pac:

Sorry, I meant the 2.0 update. Should have specified.

I had it before then, but it wasn't really all that good before the massive changes.
