On most nights, Martin could be found at his favorite table in his favorite restaurant - La Famiglia in Beverly Hills - listening to his old hits over and over again while he emptied a bottle of vodka.

And after drinking all day and night, Martin would pour himself into his Rolls-Royce - complete with number plates reading "DRUNKY" - and somehow get himself back to his Malibu home to continue the binge, usually with a pizza he carried out of the restaurant.
The routine rarely changed, except for Sundays, when La Famiglia was closed and Martin would shift his sad ritual to Hamburger Hamlet on Sunset Boulevard.
"By the end of the night, it usually takes his driver and some of the staff to help him out to his car," said one restaurant staff member.
Martin's nonchalant approach to his impending death mirrors the way he led his life.
Once, when asked to describe his life, he summed it up in one rambling paragraph in which he cited "golf, television, food, booze and sleep
    - all followed by another massive bowel movement. Beautiful. This is my life." Entertainment Weekly once described Martin as "quite without human substance; he was a triumph of effortless, mindless, instinctual vocal style".
