Lyons biodegradable tea bags

I bought a box of tea and noticed the tea bags are now labelled as 'biodegradable and compostable'. There was nothing on the box about a change of taste or anything.
When we tried the tea it was undrinkable- it literally tasted like mud and was horrible. I tried with a couple of tea bags and they were all the same.
Has anyone else noticed the same thing or have I just gotten a bad box?!
