    Hey

So these sets have Lifetime guarantee. I've mine about 8 years or so , no receipt left at this stage.

I snapped 1 extension head 1 half inch to quarter inch adapter and messed the half inch socket wrench on some stuck nuts on Van

How does one sort this under lifetime guarantee if no receipt. Anyone any experience?

Last time I was in to get a part fixed they asked for the receipt. When buying it a few years ago the person at the till suggested I take a photo , that's all I had to produce. Hope you get on ok.

    You need the receipt.

I’ve lost mine too, otherwise I’d give you a copy.

i have argued this with them and got warranty without, but i think the person on the till has often been told by manager "only with receipt". You just need to confirm you bought from them, which can be verbal, receipt is not mentioned in their terms (see below) treatment varies from store to store.

here is what their terms say:

    after-sales Service and Guarantees
8.1. Where applicable, details of manufacturers' guarantees or service arrangements will be provided with the Goods or Services. Your local Halfords store or Garage will deal with after sales service and warranty/ guarantee claims.

8.2. Except where expressly stated otherwise, all warranties are non-transferable and only apply for the original Customer. Please note that, if you buy Goods with a Halfords warranty, we are guaranteeing that those Goods will work during the warranty period. If you replace the Goods during the warranty period, the warranty does not start again. You will only benefit from the remaining period of the original warranty. This does not affect your statutory rights if the Goods are faulty or not as described.

8.3. For further information on guarantees offered by Halfords, please click here.

I imagine if you paid by card, that would be a record to check against if you were able to find it in your bank statement or that.
I got mine on the credit card last year or the year before so should still have a record of it somewhere, hopefully.

I spread the jaws on a spanner from leaning on it hard, brought it back in, and they handed me a new one, no receipt, no question

Ive replaced my 1/4" socket four times in the last 8 years under the lifetime warranty in Cork without a receipt and never ever had an issue.

If they ask for a receipt i'd be questioning why when the tools are clearly marked "Halfords" and "lifetime guarantee".
