Just curious if you all have "haggled" with the solar companies on their prices and if you managed to get reductions as a result?

I didn't so much haggle on price, more just told him that I wanted the same as another boardsie had already got. That boardsie had done the haggling for me so I basically just asked for a price match.

I did then add a second battery though and he offered it at a reduced rate as I was a returning customer.

That’s not bad it’s nice detail for a change.

I don’t see the myenergie hub on that image?
Also spelling of myenergie products incorrect I’d say you will have config issues but that’s not too much of a problem (-:

just as a comparison mine below which was an awkward install due to access, space issues, dormers, velux windows, chimney and trees and took roofers best part of two days just for the panel install.

Exact same gear as your enclosed image included but base config was

16 370W Trina panels total 5920 kW
Solis 5.0 kW Hybrid inverter
Data Logger for Solis Cloud
2.4 Pylontec battery and cabinet
MyEnergie Zappi/Eddi/Hub/Harvi/App
16 Tigo Optimisers TS4-A-O
Tigo CCA and TAP Device with panel level monitoring
All safety switches
All AC and DC cabling and isolators
All meter and protection devices

Installer also replaced several switches in the hot press and replaced several RCBOs in the consumer unit and included a WiFi extender.
All installed and configured with labelling and paperwork completion.

6900k ex grants.

Up and running a few months now so happy to recommend installer just pm me for details.

I got similiar quote with 4 less panels for 7k cost to me.

So I was chatting and emailing the installer that shall not be named, and I am very unsure as to what I should do.

A 7 panel (320kwp per panel) system installed, for about 20 a month for 10 years. 35 if I add an Eddi. Each additional panel is 6 per month.
Was told that the inverter was from Goodwe, but no mention of its rating nor whether it's a hybrid inverter (for adding battery at a later stage)

I could hold off until a later stage and have the finances in place for exactly what I think I want (10+ panels with Solis Hybrid Inverter, Eddie, Pylontech battery(ies) and possibly wiring setup for an EV charger), or I could avail of the 1800 euro grant that may be going at some stage soon and not be sure whether or not this is the system I should be getting.

Anyone else get that feeling after consulting with the installer that shall not be named?

I've already made it very clear what I think of the idea of solar as a service so I'll not rake it up again. But..

20x12x10=€2400. For that price I'd be extremely doubtful you'll get a hybrid inverter. €6 a month per panel extra is simply extortionate - I'd say you'll get the hard sell on that though - just a guess.

Nothing to say the grant is going.

35 extra for an Eddi is simply laughable - again, I'm expecting you'll get hard sell on that.

But, you could get the 7 panels installed, pay off of the 2400 in one lump and then change the inverter out (+€1000) and add panels IF you can DIY them.

If you can't and you have to pay someone to fit them the economics of it start to look a lot shakier. It's not just the money for me, you'll run into warranty issues if you fit the original 7, then change out the inverter, then add more. i'd say original installer will not want to hear about any issues.

If nothing else, I'm sure the original installer isn't a charity nor a fool - I'd say he's covering himself somehow around people using him as a cheap installation service.

Ultimately though, the decision is yours!

Of course it's not a hybrid inverter, that would be ridiculous for them to sell to people who aren't going with a battery system.

Their cheapest system is very competitively priced but the bigger systems with battery, Eddi etc are much less so.

There has been people on this thread who went with the base deal but then bought additional panels outright and had them install them. That could be an option if you want more panels but I'd doubt they would do that for a hybrid inverter also.

I don't think I'd want to just stick with 2.2kwp. I know it's a very easy way to get started, but I am not in any way interested in going down the DIY route in the future wrt this. I think I'll just wait until I am in a position to get the system I want.
