I was driving round a corner once in the 80's in an old Mini, and one of the lads in the back says, there might be a Garda down here, so I opened the door to pull in the seatbelt and fell out, luckily my mate in the back copped and grabbed the hasp of me pants as I was going and managed to get me back, now a graze on the top of yer head at 35mph hurts, and I promised myself it wouldnt happen again, and it didnt, so far, so any similar experiences ?

No, but I had a gf once who had an automatic car. She put the car into P gear (parking apparently) on a slope and didn't put the handbrake on.

Anyway she gets out of the car and it starts to roll backwards. Lucky for her, the open door caught the front of another car and stopped long enough for her to get back in and pull up the handbrake.

She was a fcuking idiot. She kept telling me afterward that P should stop the car from rolling backwards. I told her to always put on the handbreak. She kept repeating that P should stop it. Lol.

It wasn't in park then, probably neutral. An auto wont roll in p unless the gearbox is completely ****ed, in which case it wouldn't have been driving. Plenty of people that have autos never bother with handbrakes. The handbrakes on the original xc90 were ****, most of them are none functioning most of the time.

She was right though, P is transmission lock and doesnt require handbrake

Back in the 80's in south Kerry myself and 7 or 8 cousins used to get transported around in a old yellow ford escort and a trailer. One of my favorite memories is when 5 of us hit a bump on the original ring of Kerry road and were thrown out the trailer and onto the road while the car driven by my uncle carried on to Cahersiveen. My uncle drove easily 5 miles up the road until he realized he lost us.

Well not so much fell out as rolled out on a folded up buggy. Think of the way the car in Knightrider reversed out of the truck and that's pretty much what happened. It was an estate car. My sister did actually fall out another time though. Luckily it was onto the footpath and she did the old tuck and roll. A family of stuntmen my parents raised...
