    Hi

Just bought a 2012 Ford Focus and have to say I’m not impressed with the dipped and main beam headlights. Has anyone changed bulbs on this model to LEDs?
Or any other recommendations to swap out what’s fitted at the moment?

What have you done so far to check the system or improve the situation?

Plenty of upgrades about if needed, first i would check interior light lowering device is at 0,then how clear is your lens.
Problem with leds are if driving in snow they wont clear the headlamp as they are cold, halogen are hot.Stick up a photo of your lights.

Nothing at the moment I will try and see what is already fitted in there, lens are in good condition and I will check settings inside car. It’s just they were very weak compared to my Avensis even main beam and fog lights were dimmer and did not throw beam as far

I’ve the same problem. Got a Focus in November and the lights are awful on dark back roads and motorway in the evening/early morning. I often find myself following another car so I can see better.

I drove down from Belfast to Cork last night and had to do the same for most the way on the motorway, the wind and the rain didn’t help. Then when I went onto country roads I really had to slow down as lights were terrible

Hmm i wonder if the bulb holders are melting which is common and not getting connections properly.

Someone recommended Osram Nightbreaker bulbs here on another thread, apologies I can't remember who?

I'm going to try them out, as I have similar issues, but mine is definitely partly to do with a slight hazing of the headlamp casing.
Gonna get them cleaned up and put new bulbs in, and see how things go then.

Have the headlight alignment and pattern checked and if they are ok then fit a pair of uprated bulbs such as Philips Xtreme Vision.

Those LED conversion kits are mostly useless.

I presume the focus does not have front fog lamps as can be handy to see the kerbs.
