I was in a car cash about two hours ago.

It wasn’t too serious in that neither me nor the driver have serious injuries but it was pretty serious as in the car is a write off and we had to be helped out of a deep-ish ditch by the fire brigade.

We were checked out by paramedics and both fine but pretty shaken up. I think the driver is fully in shock. I’m starting to feel stiff in parts of my back and neck but not badly, I can move them fine.

It’s just mad how you can be going down the road thinking about the election and what to have for dinner and suddenly that happens.

Does anyone know of anything I could/should be doing in the aftermath?

You didn't say who caused it, does that imply it was you ?

I think it's fair to say Sinn Fein has to take some of the blame.

Sorry you had the accident and glad that no one was hurt. Best you can do is have a quiet evening and look after yourself.
    Watch those aches.

Man, you're having a hard life lately.

Sorry to hear you were in an accident, most important thing is that you were relatively unhurt. Car is replaceable. Rest and recuperation number one for now, check in with your GP tomorrow morning. Even if your neck/back stiffness eases. Leave nothing to chance, best of luck.

It was just our car involved but I wasn’t driving. I’m not sure how/ why the driver lost control of the car, it all happened very quickly.

Seems like we were well within the speed limit but should have been maybe going a bit slower given the weather.

Funny enough, this had the immediate effect of putting a lot of that other stuff in perspective.

@Bertie: Thanks. I appreciate it and I’m going to do exactly that.

Go see your doctor in the morning, you might not be sore now but you may be tomorrow

Feet up tonight! Main thing is you're ok. Car can be replaced. If sore tomorrow, visit your GP.

Sorry to hear about your accident - You are blessed it wasn’t a lot worse. Not sure you can claim damaged off your own car insurance for unjuries - should this be the need. Regarding your claim for your own car I’d be extremely careful before putting in anything and get out the paperwork and read it cery carefully before phoning anyone - all calls are recorded. There was a hige storm. There were emergency alerts all over the country. There were warning everywhere not to /make unnecessary journeys etc. If this was caused by the warned against conditions or by high winds of the storm your insurance might cover it or it might be covered by what ised be called force majeure cluses - acts of God including storms and civil war are not covered.

Perhaps the driver was suddenly blinded by a reflection or startled by a noise like gunshot or a smll dog or animal suddenly raced across rhe road and distracted them mimentRily?

I’d take a long hot bath for the next few days and be saying a few prayers to my guardian angel- sounds like you were all extremely lucky.

Did you have no claims protect and was the person driving covered to he driving in your car? Will it be off their insurance or your own you will be covered? And was your insurance bamed drivers only or anyone and did you agree in advance whose it would come off if there was an accident? Might be complicated times ahead :(

Mind yourself Kiki. Maybe take a few hours to yourself and leave boards behind for the night.

Poor girl will be shrivelled up like a prune... she'll probably have a set of gills, when she emerges from this aquatic sojourn! :pac:

Sorry to hear this but thankful you are fine. A warm bath with Epsom salts will draw out some of the soreness. I hope things improve for you.

Oh wow Kiki - that’s bloody awful. :(

You might be in a state of shock right now. Really pleased to hear you weren’t seriously hurt.

Get something hot to drink, stay warm and try not to mull things over in your mind too much.

If you're sore and stiff now, it'll be alot worse over the next 2 days. Rest and anti-inflammatories. Go see the doctor. Don't sit/lie around the place. Keep moving in some form of you can, but nothing strenuous

Stay away from baths until checked out by your GP.

Any situations I've been in like that have given me an increased appreciation for being alive.
Glad you're OK and no one was seriously hurt, the margins can be extremely slim with these things.

    Glazers Out!

I can not speak for anyone but myself - but for me I would want to get back in a car as soon as possible - perhaps to even revisit the scene of the crash. For me - I would not want any phobias or post traumatic traumas to set down any roots. I would want to own it and get back out there right away.

For others that would be the worst thing to do though :) So YMMV. So to speak.

@nullzero: I’m swaying between gratitude and a bit of self-pity

@TaxAHcruel: My Dad picked us up so I’ve been in a car again already. No general phobias but I think I’ll be wary with that particular driver again as they have a bit of a history.

I’m pretty sore today but I suppose that’s to be expected. I might go to the doctor if it’s still like this tomorrow.

We all deal with these things differently. I wrote off a yoke one time, ploughed into a wall. The impact was like nothing I've ever experienced. Some adrenaline dump out of it, luckily I walked away (after kicking my way out) without a scratch.

Ex rang me in hysterics, asking where I was, what hospital, told her I went for the cure.

As long as you walked away it's grand, I wouldn't over think it.

First they came for the socialists...

I was sore across the line of the seat belt, sore but nothing piercingly so.
